The Fillings Process

Getting a dental filling can be daunting — especially if you’ve never had a filling before. Here’s what to expect when coming in for your dental filling with Dr. Pandher:

  • Digital X-Ray – We will take an x-ray of your tooth to see how much of it is infected.
  • Administer Anesthesia – We’ll numb the area around your tooth so that you don’t feel any discomfort.
  • Remove Decay – We will gently remove the decay from your tooth.
  • Add Filling & Shape – Lastly, we’ll put composite resin on your tooth and shape it so that it blends in naturally with the rest of your tooth.

Home Care Instructions

Here are some of our top home care instructions after a dental filling:

  • Make sure to keep watch until the anesthesia wears off. (You don’t bite your lip or tongue.)
  • Understand that sensitivity is normal.
  • Take Ibuprofen if needed.
  • Follow-up with our office if discomfort lasts.
